Natural Dye and Pigment Workshop

Join artists Hannah Ross, Madeline Lynch and the Center for Art Education Sustainability, on Sunday, May 6th from 1-5pm at the Osmunda NYC Exhibit, located at 151 Gallery, for a Natural Dye and Pigment Workshop! 

In this laboratory workshop you will gain hands on experience learning how to make your own paint from natural materials by exploring the process and techniques of watercolor and egg tempura paint making.  

We will explore creating fabric alchemy using all natural materials to create dye, then painting directly on cotton and silk.We will provide all materials , but also feel free to bring in your own natural fiber clothing and fabrics to test out the organic pigments! 

In this on going afternoon laboratory workshop, talks and demonstrations will take place every hour on the hour, while visitors develop their own paintings throughout the afternoon. 

Ages 7+ welcome. Families encouraged!

Bridge Event: Spontaneous Urban Plants with Jill Sigman

Multi-disciplinary artist Jill Sigman will guide an exploration of "weed" plants: a grounding/meditative introduction, a tasting of wild edibles and homemade herbal tea, and a creative visioning to communicate with the plants. 

Hosted by Joro-Boro as part of The Bridge Event series - aiming to integrate science and spirituality. 

The event is part of Osmunda - a three-week experiential lab, exposition, and artist residency focused on reconnecting the thread between humanity and nature.

Reducing Plastic, Reusing Waste: Eco Design Thinking Workshop

An interactive workshop led by a panel of entrepreneurs and activists working to reduce waste to create a more healthy urban ecosystem. How might we change our own behavior to support their efforts? 

Jennie Romer will present on the new initiative to ban plastic bags.

AESOP will lead a group mind mapping circular economy diagram for the reimagining of waste resources.
